Grzegorz Domaradzki's "Night of the Living Dead" Movie Posters

I'm fairly certain this will be my favorite print of the year. For those of you that don't recognize the name Grzegorz Domaradzki, I highly recommend you remedy that (in fact I wrote a post titled "Grzegorz Domaradzki's Vector Movie Posters" that might help) by taking a look at the impressive posters below. Grzegorz's impossibly beautiful Night of the Living Dead prints are sure to make some waves and will hopefully lead to many more movie prints from someone who is obviously a very talented artist. Pretty fantastic, aren't they? If you've got the time I suggest clicking on the images and getting a better look at the incredibly lifelike (and deathlike) characters. The faces that make up the larger, more sinister, visage (stare at it for a second, you'll get it) are meticulously detailed and expertly evoke all the fear, helplessness, rabid hunger and stoic defiance that played such a large part in George Romero's macabre masterpiece. In a lot of ways Grzegorz's art reminds me of Martin Ansin, but where Ansin's creations seem to mostly be made up of smooth flowing segments, Grzegorz Domaradzki's artwork seems at times chaotic and has a brutal sense of urgency. It's this anarchic quality which I think really connects with the pure horror that Living Dead's protagonists are forced to deal with. And if that didn't convince you, it's a freaking Night of the Living Dead poster. What more could you want?!  To much more astutely explain what went into this poster it seemed fitting to include a summary from the artist himself (taken from Kryptonite Prints & Apparel):

"My work often tends to veer towards darker themes, so when I was presented with the chance to pay tribute to Romero's classic, I jumped at the opportunity. Conceptually, I wanted to do something different, something that wouldn't be obviously apparent upon first glance. I arranged the composition in a way that the characters worked together to create the shape of a skull, the symbol of death. It took time to get just right, but in the end the result is just as I had visualized."

In addition to the incredible art, I also wanted to briefly call out the sound economics behind these two prints. It's not often you see only a $10 difference between the regular edition and the variant edition (metallic silver and glow in the dark, no less).

So there you have it. Grzegorz Domaradzki's first movie screen print is a complete success in my eyes and deserves to be picked up by any fans of beautiful art and / or lumbering zombies.
